I would suggest you and your wife go for a visit, there are two cities Corner Brook on the west coast and St. Johns on the East in the interior are two large towns Grand Falls and Gander. For what you do I would suggest one of the above for your destination. People are friendly.\You could cross from Sydney to Port aux Basque then drive across the island passing through the places I mentioned.
